Here is the progression from the previous example played as arpeggios. As well as the use of slash chords, notice also the use of extra bass notes to connect the chords. These bass runs are all notes of the A natural minor scale.
Experiment with other ways of strumming and picking this progression, and try some bass runs with other progressions you already know. Make a habit of doing this with every new progression you learn. All musicians use the same chords, but good players can create great sounding parts by the way they play the notes within the chords, and the way they connect them.
