More New Notes

More New Notes

In the following example are three more notes in the middle register – A, B and C. Each of them uses the same fingering as the same note in the low register. Once again, practice alternating between registers until you are comfortable with the new notes.

Once you know the notes A, B and C in the middle register, you can play the C major scale over a range of two octaves. This easily covers the range of most melodies.

This example demonstrates a melody which uses the higher octave of the C major scale.

Here is an exercise to help you become more familiar with all the notes over two octaves.

This traditional Australian folk song makes frequent use of the notes in the higher octave of the C major scale.
