INTRODUCTION

Lesson 2/20 | Study Time: 5 Min
INTRODUCTION

Progressive Keyboard Method For Little Kids Books 1, 2 & 3 have been designed to introduce the younger student to the basics of playing the keyboard and reading music.

To maximize the student’s enjoyment, the books use contemporary original material along with a repertoire of well known children’s songs. All have been carefully graded into an easy-to-follow, lesson-by-lesson format which assumes no prior knowledge of music.

Book 1 contains very easy arrangements involving five notes on the treble staff and five notes on the bass staff. The student also learns the concept of melody and accompaniment using the chords C and G7 with the left hand.

The book includes an introduction to the 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures incorporating quarter, half and whole notes and their equivalent rests. Only the white keys are used.

The student is taught how to read music and is introduced to basic terms such as bar lines, repeat signs, melody and harmony. New pieces of information are highlighted by color boxes, while color illustrations are used throughout to stimulate and maintain the student’s interest.
