INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Lesson 2/1 | Study Time: 5 Min
INTRODUCTION (for your teacher)

Progressive Piano Method for Young Beginners Books 1, 2 & 3 have been designed to introduce the younger student to the basics of piano playing and reading music.

To maximise the student’s enjoyment and interest, the Progressive Young Beginner series incorporates an extensive repertoire of well-known children’s songs. All the songs have been carefully graded into an easy-to-follow, lesson-by-lesson format, which assumes no prior knowledge of music or piano by the student.

Progressive Piano Method for Young Beginners Book 2 will help develop the student’s ability to read music, as it contains very easy arrangements involving one octave on the treble staff and one octave on the bass staff. It introduces the students to eighth notes, dotted quarter notes, staccato, legato, ties, first and second endings, the C major scale and playing in C and F positions. Only the white keys are used. New pieces of information are highlighted by color boxes, and color illustrations are used throughout to stimulate and maintain the student’s interest.

Supplementary Songbook B contains an additional 27 songs which are cross-referenced to the lessons of Method Book 2.
