Eighth Note Triplets

If we follow the above rule, it can be seen that there are twelve eighth note triplets in one bar of * time.

Examples 23

Bass Part - This is an example of a slow blues groove using only eighth note triplets.

Drum Part - Eighth note triplets are played on the hi-hat in this example.

Examples 24

Bass Part - Quarter notes and eighth note triplets are used in this example, to give the bass line a more 'broken up' feel.

Drum Part - The only change here from example 23, is the use of ride cymbal and sidestick. Sidestick is where the 'but' end of the stick hits the snare rim (see photo on page 6)
