The following example contains some common rhythm figures which contain sixteenth notes. Each of the figures is one beat in length. A couple of things worth noting here are the use of the sixteenth rest ( k ) which indicates one sixteenth note worth of silence, and the dotted eighth note ( 5. ) which lasts for three quarters of a beat (3 sixteenth notes).
It is important to become thoroughly familiar with all the rhythm figures shown here, so practice each bar separately until you can play them all easily before putting them all together. As always, use your metronome and count out loud as you play. The bold counting numbers here refer to the snare drum part. Accent the snare drum part with your voice as you count.
