The Dotted Quarter Note
A dot written after a quarter note means that the note lasts for one and a half counts.
A dotted quarter note is often followed by an eighth note.
First and Second Endings
The next tune contains first and second endings. The first time you go through the song, sing the first ending (Z ), then go back to the beginning. The second time you go through the song, sing the second ending (X ) instead of the first.
