Another common technique in Country music is to create an alternating bass note style by alternating between the notes of the chords with the left hand. When playing this style it is common to use only the Root and the Fifth of each chord. The following example shows various positions of the root and fifth of the chords C, F and G.
Once you are confident you can easily find the root and fifth of each chord, try alternating between them as shown in this example.
Here is an arrangement of another famous song which sounds good with the alternating bass style. Take it slowly at first and practice each hand separately if necessary.
