Bass Runs

Lesson 2/43 | Study Time: 5 Min
Bass Runs

Bass Runs

As well as the alternating bass style, another common feature of Country piano playing is the use of bass runs with the left hand when moving between chords. The following examples show some typical uses of bass runs in the key of G. All the notes are derived from the G major scale. Don’t forget to try out some bass runs in the key of C too.

Here is a new arrangement of a song you learned earlier in the book, featuring the use of bass runs. If you have trouble co-ordinating both hands, practice each part separately and then play both parts together slowly and count aloud as you play.
