As previously mentioned the open string notes for open E tuning are tuned two frets higher than the open string notes for open D tuning. This means that all chord shapes are identical in both tunings, only the name of each chord shape will differ. The following diagrams are some basic chords and bar chords in open E tuning. Compare these chord shapes to the open D tuning chord shapes in Section 6 .
