New Chords in the Key of G

The previous example contains the chord D major which you have not previously learned. By using the chord construction formulas from lesson 12 you can easily work out that a D chord contains the notes D, F# and A. Like any chord, there is more than one way to play a D chord. The following diagrams show the D chord in root position, first inversion and second inversion.
