As mentioned previously there are many variations on the 16 bar Folk progression. The first of these variations inserts the V7 (D7) chord in the 5th bar and the I7 (G7) chord in the 10th bar. Try the following example in the key of G.

To play the previous 16 bar Folk progression variation in the key of D an D7 chord is needed. The following example also employs the V7 (A7) chord in the 16th bar. To make this progression sound finished end with one strum of the D chord.
