Enhancing An Arrangement

A fingerpicking arrangement to Sloop John B can now be played by combining the melody and bass line. This arrangement contains the pinching of bass and melody notes on some beats, as well as the individual picking of notes on other beats. Study the notes in the following arrangement, comparing them to the melody and bass line shown on the previous page. Special attention should be given to the suggested left hand fingering.

The next song is a spiritual Folk song called Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.

The following arrangement to Swing Low, Sweet Chariot combines the previous melody with an arpeggio picking style.

Down in the Valley is a simple song in ^ time.

A standard ^ bass line can now be combined with the melody to Down in the Valley.
