Heavy Metal Drumming is designed to introduce the drummer, whether beginner or advanced, into the captivating and colorful world of heavy metal and heavy rock drum rhythms and techniques.
It is important to remember that the drums are a very physical instrument, and this particular style of drumming can take you to the realms of your physical endurance.
So if you’re not into exercise or visiting the local gym – I suggest you start now.
Conserving energy is another essential factor. For example, set the drums up around your body in a logical, comfortable position. Don’t have the toms too high, or the cymbals out of reach, etc.
You should make a concerted effort to relax when practicing, just as you should never jerk or strain muscles when lifting weights, so the same applies to drumming. If you feel pain, then slow down – or stop for a while. Remember – control begins in muscularly relaxed action. Finally, I would like to thank those who helped in the project, in particular, Robert Crispe, Michael Knight, Philip Measham & Scott Boswell. May the force be with you.
