Alex Van Halen plays a hard hitting rock beat, that stands out more than most drummers playing in bands today. This is due to his knowledge of the basic rudiments, and their application around the drums. His drum solos rank as the best in the world of heavy rock drumming. His extraordinary technique, speed and skill around the drums are testimony to this, and have to be seen to be believed. You can check it out on video and I think you’ll agree, it’s well worth the price of admission. His polyrhythms and independence sometimes create a "jazz" feel which adds color and uniqueness to his style.
