Root Five Bar Chord Progressions

In this lesson you will be introduced to some chord progressions which feature the root five Major bar chord and the root five Minor bar chord.

All of the root five bar chords used in this lesson are summarized below. Study the following chord diagrams.

Example 38 features the root five bar chord C Major (3rd fret), and Bb Major (1st fret).

Example 39 is exactly the same as Example 38, except the chords C Minor (3rd fret) and Bb Minor (1st fret) are used.

This time a combination of the root five Major and Minor bar is used.

Example 41 introduces four new root five bar chords, D Minor (5th fret), E Minor (7th fret)f F Major (8th fret) and G Major (10th fret).

Example 42 requires changing to the next chord on an up-strum. Three new root five bar chords are used, F# Minor (9th fret), D Major (5th fret) and E Major (7lh fret).
