Most Ragtime chord progressions are sixteen bars in length. There are many variations of a Ragtime progression, many of which will appear throughout the book. The following example is a sixteen bar Ragtime progression in the key of G.
Seventh chords are featured throughout. In bars where two chords are played the fingerpicking pattern is played once only. The boxed notes are highlighted as a reminder to either substitute an open string to assist with the chord change or to simply omit the note altogether.
