Root Five Bar Chords

At this stage it is also important to ensure you are familiar with the major, minor and seventh root five bar chord shapes. These shapes will appear frequently throughout the book. These chord shapes apply to other root five bar chords positioned on higher frets such as C, Cm, C7, C#, C#m, C#7 etc.

First Time Rag uses many of the chords shapes and fingerpicking patterns studied so far. This piece also contains first and second endings. Play to the first ending, ( Z ), then go back to the beginning. The second time you play through the song, play the second ending ( X ) instead of the first.
