The next set of licks are based upon the country slide scale. This is the scale which is mainly used in country music, but still appears in contemporary rock and blues styles. Country blues and country rock music are two styles which feature this type of scale. You will notice that the following licks have a distinctive country flavour rather than a blues "feel" which has been illustrated with the previous licks.
The first set of licks in this section are played in open E or open D tuning. There are basically two positions which may be used in open E/D tuning. The following diagram shows the two popular positions to use for country slide playing in open E/D tuning.
