A standard music staff will be sued to show you which chords have to be played and how long a certain chord must be played for. The music staff consists of five lines with a trevle clef at the beginning of the staff.
The staff is divided into sections called bars or measures. The bars are separated by a vertical line called a bar line with a double bar line to mark the end of a progression. There are four "beats" or four "counts" to every bar as indicated by teh time signature ar the beginning of the staff. At this stage you will strum one down-strum on every beat of the bar. Example 3.1 shows a C Major chord being strummed for four bars.
