Bar Chord Indicators
In music which moves around the fretboard, the following symbols are often used to indicate the use of bar chords and the frets at which they are played.
- The full Bar is notated as B.
- The half Bar is notated as p B.
- The B and p B indication are then followed by a number which specifies the fret position (It is also common to indicate the Bar position with a Roman numeral).
i.e., B3 ( or BIII ) means to use the full Bar across the third fret.
p B5 (or p B V ) means to use the half Bar across the fifth fret.
