These two licks use the C minor pentatonic scale. This scale sounds great with note bending. It can be used against a variety of minor key progressions, Blues progressions and major key Rock progressions. Try using the minor pentatonic against the jam along progressions at the end of the book, you'll find it will work against quite a few of them.
This Blues solo consists entirely of notes from the C minor pentatonic scale.
Here is another solo created from the minor pentatonic scale, this time in B minor. This scale is useful any time you want a bluesy sound. For a really in-depth study of Blues playing, see Progressive Complete Learn to Play Blues Guitar Manual.
