The whole tone scale is particularly useful for playing over augmented chords and dominant chords with a raised 5th. The whole tone scale contains six different notes and is made up entirely of major second intervals. The C whole tone scale is shown below in the open position. As with previous scales, play it several times until you have the sound memorised.
