Alternative Chord Shapes

There are many different ways to play the same chord. Here are alternative chord shapes for A7 and E7. Practice the two previous chord progressions using these new shapes.

Notice that both of these shapes are based on the major chord. When the fourth finger is added, the chord becomes a seventh chord.

It is important to know alternative chord shapes, because when you are playing songs, some shapes will sound better, or be easier to change to. All good guitarists know many different ways to playa chord.
