Here is a variation of the previous riff, shown against an A chord.
Apply this riff to the 12 Bar Blues progression.
This is an eighth note. It lasts for half a count. There are 8 eighth notes in one bar of * time. When eighth notes are joined together the tails are replaced by one beam.
The examples shown here are two eighth notes joined together and four eighth notes joined together.
Here is another riff played against a 12 Bar Blues in A. The riff is one bar long and uses eighth notes. Use a downward pick motion for each note.
C This is a bar repeat sign which indicates an exact repeat of the previous bar.
Notice that the riff is used throughout the progression except for the last bar. This last bar makes use of a common ending. Finish by playing the beginning note (in this example an A note).
Example 6 can also be played using eighth notes instead of quarter notes as shown in example 8.
