Open String Slurs

Lesson 2/73 | Study Time: 5 Min
Open String Slurs

Open String Slurs

In Lesson 5 you were introduced to a combined hammer-on and pull-off technique called "slurring". Slurring can occur between many different combinations of notes and can include open strings. The following example uses three notes from Pattern 1 Extension in the third position and an open 3rd string (G string), and uses triplet timing. Play slowly at first and gradually pick up speed. Pick only the first note.

Here is another example containing open string slurs using Pattern 1 notes in the fifth position and a combination of the open 1st (E), 2nd (B), 3rd (G) and 4th (D) strings. Use triplet timing and only pick the first note.
