The first open tuning is really an altered standard tuning. Beginning with this tuning variation is a great way to start fingerpicking in open tuning.
Dropped D tuning is the same as open standard tuning except the sixth string (E) is lowered one tone to the note D. The open string notes as shown in the adjacent diagram will therefore be, beginning with the sixth string;
