Triplet Rhythm

Triplet Rhythm

One of the most popular rhythms used in Rock guitar is the triplet rhythm. This means that three strums are played to every beat. A new word is used to help count triplet rhythm – "ah". To count a triplet rhythm say 1 and ah, 2 and ah, 3 and ah, 4 and ah. In order to get the right sound for the triplet rhythm. the first strum of each group of three strums is played louder. Example 24 shows the A7 chord being strummed for one bar using a triplet rhythm. The symbol L is used to show which strums are to be played louder.
