Muting

Muting

As with rhythm guitar styles, it is possible to apply muting to a lead guitar lick. Example 64 is played within the minor pentatonic scale in the key of G.

The mute is an effect that is often used as a contrast to a normal fretted note. The following example combines a lick played on the treble strings with a muted lick on the bass strings.
