The Rake

The Rake

The rake is the action of the right hand 'raking' across the strings as the left hand lightly touches the strings, producing muted notes. At the end of the rake a normal note is played. This action happens within a split second and will require a great deal of practice to master. A rake is indicated as an upward arrow.

A rake can precede any type of note, a pick harmonic, bend etc.
