Supplement 4 Constant Velocity

Supplement 4 Constant Velocity

Supplement four is another twelve bar blues progression. This time it is in the key of A Major.

12 Bar Blues in A

Constant Velocity – Analysis

  • Bars one to four are almost directly taken from Example Seven, Lesson Two, A Chord Licks.
  • Bars five and six are found in Example Twenty, Lesson Five, D Chord Licks.
  • Bars seven and eight are examples of a harmonized melody line. Notice the melody descending on the first string as the harmony is ascending on the second string.
  • Bars nine and ten are based upon an E Seventh chord with a walking bass and melody line to lead back to the A Major chord.

Chord shapes used in "The Old Man".
