Supplement 6 Geoffrey’s Rag
Geoffrey’s Rag is in the key of C and uses a cliche ragtime progression. The first verse uses riffs taken directly from the first section of chord licks at the beginning of the book. The second half of the solo is an example of how some of the extended chord licks can be used.

- Section one is a mixture of riffs found at the beginning of the book in Lessons Two, Three, Four and Five.
- Refer to the extended chord licks for the A Major, D Major and G Major chords found in the second section of the solo.
- The single note run in the middle of the second verse is similar to example 34 in the extended C Major licks.
- The final two measures of the second verse are an example in playing part of the melody in octaves and intervals of thirds. Use the thumb for all the lower notes.
