Tuning By Harmonics
Harmonics are commonly used as a method to tune the guitar. By locating harmonics of the same pitch on different strings, you can tune the guitar as such:
- Tune the harmonic on the 7th fret of the fifth string to the harmonic on the 5th fret of the sixth string (arrow 1).
- Tune the harmonic on the 7th fret of the fourth string to the harmonic on the 5th fret of the fifth string (arrow 2).
- Tune the harmonic on the 7th fret of the third string to the harmonic on the 5th fret of the fourth string (arrow 3).
- Tune the open second string to the harmonic on the 7th fret of the sixth string.
- Tune the open first string to the harmonic on the 7th fret of the fifth string.
