Course: Slide Guitar
INTRODUCTION

Progressive Slide Guitar has been designed to introduce guitarists to the techniques involved in playing slide guitar.

It will be helpful to have a basic knowledge of rhythm and lead guitar before tackling the exercises in this book. Progressive Rhythm Guitar and Progressive Lead Guitar are recommended as introductory manuals to this book.

This book concentrates on the use of slide in modern Rock and Blues styles. In recent years, slide guitar has gained popularity as an extra tool in a guitar player’s repertoire. This book will be useful to modern guitar players who wish to incorporate slide into an electric Rock and Blues styles. It will also be a useful aid to guitarists who want to explore traditional acoustic aspects of slide guitar.

The first section of this book deals with the types of slides and guitars which can be used and the setting up the guitar.

The next two sections explain in detail the use of left hand and right hand technique. You will also begin your first basic slide exercises and solos.

The final sections incorporate popular scales, licks and solos used in standard and open tuning.

All guitar players interested in traditional or modern slide guitar will find this manual invaluable. Work through this book slowly and carefully but most importantly enjoy yourself.

Good luck and have fun,
Brett Duncan
