The first solo is based upon a twelve bar blues progression in the key of E.
The licks being used are based upon the Root Six Major bar chord. The notes on the first and second strings are played on the fret which corresponds with the chord.

As discussed earlier it will be necessary to rest the pick and/or fingers on the string where the damp has been indicated.
For guitarists who have not had experience with right hand technique, it is suggested you use the first finger on the second string, and the second finger on the first string (see Exercise 6).
