The following licks are based upon the standard tuning slide scale in the key of "E", and also use some new notes which can be added to the scale. Remember these licks are movable and should be practiced in different positions on the fretboard.
Exercise 21 descends the higher octave of the scale. When playing a single note run, it is once again essential to dampen correctly with the right hand.
Exercise 22 uses the lower octave of the scale. In this lick extra care will need to be taken when moving from string to string.
Two extra notes are added to the scale in this lick. The note on the first string is taken from the "E" Major Sixth chord. The extra note on the second string is the flat fifth note of the scale, which is an important note taken from the E Blues scale.
Exercise 24 uses a popular combination of notes based upon the Ninth chord. The lick can be played with two or three strings.
