The slide is a technique which involves a finger moving along the string to its new note. The finger maintains pressure on the string, so that a continuous sound is produced. In the following turnaround the sliding technique is used between the "and" of the second beat and the third beat. Pick the E note and slide to F#. Do not pick the F# note.
As with the hammer on technique, a quick slide can also be played, when the second note is played immediately after the first. The quick slide is written as such:
