The 6th chord contains the I - III - V - VI notes of the major scale. Thus a G6 contains the notes G - B - D - E and a C6 contains the notes C - E - G - A. The sixth chord forms the following arpeggio pattern on the fretboard.
This pattern can start on either the 4th or 3rd strings.
