E
Instead of changing the strumming for each bar it is quite common to play the same pattern of strums throughout the chord progression. This is called a rhythm pattern. It is placed above the staff and represents which strumming pattern is played in each bar of music.
The following progression uses the 3 chords studied so far: A, D and E.
Rhythm Pattern
Music Repeat Sign — This indicates that the progression is repeated from the beginning. After the repeat, finish on a single strum of the opening chord (in this case, an A chord). This practice will apply to most progressions in this book.
Slide Finger — When changing from an A major chord to an E major chord the first finger slides to the new position without being lifted off the third string. The same sliding technique is used between the D and E chord changes.
