Rhythm Pattern
This turnaround is in the key of C major. The key of a song is generally indicated by the opening chord, e.g., Turnaround No. 1 (Lesson Five) is in the key of G major.
You now have two G notes; one on the first string and one on the third string. This repetition occurs with all notes, since the musical alphabet only contains seven letter names (A to G). The two G’s that you now know are said to be one octave apart.
This is a half note, or minim, worth two counts. Two half notes make up a complete bar in * time, and in the next example (bar 2) notes are played on the first and third counts.
Hold the half note for its full value of two counts. Tap your foot with the beat.
