To incorporate this extra note into pattern one, add the notes on the third and fifth string as indicated by the diagram that follows. When using this extra note, you are in effect playing a blues scale. The following example is in the key of G. The notes in the G blues scale are G Bb C Db D and F. This is the same as the G Minor Pentatonic scale. except the flattened fifth note of the Major scale has been added (a Db note).
