The licks in this lesson will use an additional note in pattern one, and an additional note in pattern two. The additional note added in both patterns is the third note of the major scale. For example, the third note in the C Major scale (C D E F G A B C), is E. The following diagram shows the location of the extra note (E), when it is added to the C Minor Pentatonic scale (C Eb F G Bb C).
