Patterns One and Two - Summary

Before continuing with the following lessons, revise the important points concerning pattern one and two as shown below. The structure of pattern one and two can be broken down into five steps.

Step 1

Lessons 1 - 6 used the basic pattern one fingering, as shown in the diagram to the right.

Step 2

In Lesson 7, additional notes were incorporated into pattern one to create the Blues scale.

Step 3

Lessons 8 - 10 introduced pattern two, and its use as an extension of pattern one.

Step 4

In Lesson 11, two additional notes were added to pattern one and two.

Step 5

Finally, Lesson 12 showed an alternative fingering which may be used for patterns one and two.
