Pattern Two - Key of G

As explained in the introduction to pattern two, the key of G is located between the fifth and eighth frets. The following diagram illustrates pattern two in the key of G. The key note (G), is on the second string. It will be essential to know all the notes on the second string to assist with playing pattern two in different keys. You will discover as you become comfortable with pattern two that the notes on the first three strings are most commonly used and these notes can be joined to pattern one. In fact, these notes are sometimes referred to as an extension of pattern one. The notes which are mainly used in pattern two are highlighted in the following diagram.
